Biography

 

Joanne Harris is recognized for her vibrant contemporary landscapes influenced by the woodland area she has lived most of her life.

She paints with acrylics and watercolors applying the pigment confidently and quickly to acheive the essence of her subject rather than a photographic likeness. Painting connects her to the natural world and allows her to closely investigate the wondrous textures she encounters on her artistic journey.

Self taught, Joanne has continued to educate herself by attending many workshops and classes in art. Some of her memorable teachers in this journey are Aliana Au, Linda Kemp, Brian Atyeo and Joyce Kamikura. Joanne has influenced many students with her knowledge of art including compostion and design primarily teaching watercolor for over 20 years throughout Manitoba and Ontario.

She has exhibited her work in many galleries and through solo, group and juried exhibitions. Her work can be found in private, public and corporate collections. Some of these include the Winnipeg Foundation and several Winnipeg Credit Unions. Joanne's studio is located in Manitoba Canada.
